Lafrowda is the ancient name for the church lands where the village of St Just in Penwith stands today. More recently, it has come to stand for community co-operation, a celebration of local heritage, and a showcase for some of the finest artistic, theatrical and musical talent in the area. A wide range of organisations take part in the festival and there is something happening every day, from music and comedy to drama and dance. One of the highlights of the fortnight is Lafrowda Day takes place on the third Saturday in July when the roads are closed and decorations go up. From hip hop to harmony, from folk to funk, there are twelve hours of free entertainment to suit every taste along with street performers, stalls, refreshments, bouncy castles and, of course, three spectacular processions.
