Located on Portland Square, just opposite Cabot’s Circus and a stone’s throw away from Stokes Croft, we are an all-day bar, cafe & restaurant with 22 individually designed bedrooms. Situated within a former boot factory, there is lots of art on the walls and the spaces have been designed to provide a buzzy neighbourhood hub for the local community and guests alike.
Food and drink is served straight from the open kitchen and is simple, honest and tasty with a focus on using great quality produce and suppliers. We serve a great breakfast and brunch, through to awesome pizzas and a house menu in the evening. The ambience is casual with a fun, bohemian vibe.
About the Role
We are looking for someone that is a great communicator, who loves leading a team and is organised. We are not fancy, but are super passionate about providing our guests with an amazing experience and taking pride in each and every dish that we serve, always making sure that each dish is presented ‘just so’ and tastes amazing.
Working alongside the owners, Kitchen Team and General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing seasonal menu changes and building a great team who are enthusiastic, thrive off working in a fast paced environment, and believe in the same ethos & values we do. You will provide positive leadership and a team culture that continually drives for excellence.
Under your leadership dishes will always be to a high standard and served in a prompt, timely manner. Stock will be well managed (wastage is a big ‘no-no’ for us), rotas will be done on time, the day-to-day kitchen operations smooth & efficient, and the kitchen always a safe and hygienic place to work. You will continually inspire, coach and train the team to be the best they can be, leading by example and ensuring a happy, motivated and confident kitchen team full of superstars.
Who are we looking for?
For the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager role you will need to be confident, energetic and and great at managing a small team to always stay calm under pressure. You will have an inherent passion for continually guiding, coaching and training your team. You must have a great eye for presentation in a rustic style and love for ingredients-based cooking.
Although we’ll teach you everything you need to know, you’ll need to have proven ability of kitchen management in a similar Sous or Head Chef role.
