Acting as an ambassador for Artist Residence you play a big part in the overall success of the site operation, ensuring our guests rave and rave about us, and are one of the best places to work! You are responsible for supporting the Head Chef and managing the team to ensure great tasting, awesome dishes that are consistently produced – to provide the best possible experience for our guests and the team. 

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Smooth and efficient kitchen operations with a great team culture 
  • Continually coaching and training to a high standard, always leading by example and ensuring a team full of superstars – eliminating key man risk 
  • Ensuring you and the team are always up to date with recipes, allergens, pre-orders, processes and general info on the company
  • Dishes are always to a high standard, correct recipe and presentation spec and served in a prompt and timely manner
  • Effective stock management with minimal discrepancies 
  • Effective staff scheduling to ensure budgets are well maintained 
  • Ensuring the site is a safe & hygienic place to work – with 5* cleanliness and equipment and kitchen areas well maintained
  • Ensuring all policies, procedures and systems are always followed
  • Ensuring effective communication and co-ordination between all departments, with great reporting and regular meetings attended and hosted in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Interacting with and assisting customers where appropriate in a friendly and helpful way
  • Keeping the product up to date and always awesome, in line with the brand values and processes
  • Making sure that wholesome team food is always prepared for the days head count and kept within budget
  • And last but by far not least, all guests can’t wait to come back! 

About You

You’re passionate about cooking and take great pride in creating awesome, great tasting wholesome food. You have a sunny personality, always go over and beyond and have an infectious positive attitude with a thirst for knowledge; always striving to the best you can be. You genuinely care in ensuring every guest has an amazing time; to ensure they have everything they need and more! 

Key skills and competencies required for the role:

  • Experience of providing a high standard fresh food in a busy pub or restaurant
  • An amazing eye for presentation in a rustic style and love for ingredients-based cooking.
  • First rate culinary skills 
  • Ability to make sure that you and the team stay calm under pressure and handle situations that arise pro-actively and with great care while keeping kitchen in order and structure 
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • Extreme attention to detail with ability to multitask  
  • Team leadership experience with passion for inspiring and developing others  
  • Quick and effective decision making
  • Credentials in food safety as well as health and safety training
